  11. About 2 years ago, I purchased one of the subject modems.  After some
  12. startup problems, it has provided (reasonably) acceptable service.
  13. However, I just upgraded my motherboard and got some diagnostic
  14. software to check out the system.  When I ran the software, it
  15. indicated that the modem was a UART8250 port.  This despite the
  16. manufacturer's assertion that it was a UART 16650!
